Due to the latest certification issues and the postponement of delivery dates for Boeing’s 777X program to 2027, a total of 33 aircraft have been removed from the active order list and reclassified as “unlikely to be fulfilled.”
The main reason behind the prolonged timeline is the 777X’s long-delayed certification process. Boeing, which originally planned to bring the model into service in 2020, stated that it is still awaiting FAA approval. The company currently has 473 orders in its portfolio, but some customers have exercised cancellation rights in their contracts due to the significant delays. As a result, the 777X has effectively fallen into the same delivery timeframe as the Airbus A350-1000.
Boeing added that it plans to reintroduce the 777-9 at the Dubai Airshow to boost the model’s market potential.
